5. Product Safety and Allergy Disclosure
Your safety matters to us. This Product Safety and Allergy Disclosure explains how to use Novéra products responsibly and what to do if you experience an unexpected reaction. Please read this in full before using any Novéra product for the first time.
5.1 Cosmetic Products — Not Medical Products
Novéra products are cosmetics. They are designed for external topical use on healthy adult skin. They are not drugs, not medical devices, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Any claims or descriptions on our Site, packaging, or marketing materials refer to cosmetic effects — how the product looks, feels, or interacts with the surface of the skin.
If you are seeking treatment for a skin condition, a rash, acne, eczema, rosacea, dermatitis, or any other medical issue, please consult a licensed healthcare professional. Novéra products are not a substitute for medical care.
5.2 Mandatory Patch Test Before First Use
You must perform a patch test before the first use of any Novéra product. This is a standard skincare safety practice that helps identify potential sensitivity or allergic reaction before you apply the product to a larger area.
How to patch test:
- Apply a small amount of product to a discreet area of skin, such as the inside of the forearm or behind the ear.
- Leave the product on the skin, undisturbed, for twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours.
- Observe the test area for signs of irritation: redness, itching, burning, stinging, swelling, blistering, or rash.
- If any of these signs occur during or after the patch test, discontinue use immediately, wash the area with cool water, and do not apply the product elsewhere.
- If no adverse reaction occurs after 48 hours, you may proceed to regular use as directed.
Performing a patch test is your responsibility. By using a Novéra product without first performing a patch test, you accept the risks of potential sensitivity or allergic reaction.
5.3 Consult a Healthcare Professional Before Use If:
- You have a known allergy to any ingredient listed on the product packaging.
- You have sensitive skin, a history of skin allergies, or a diagnosed skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or contact dermatitis.
- You are pregnant or nursing.
- You are taking medication (oral or topical) that affects the skin, including retinoids, corticosteroids, antibiotics, or photosensitizing drugs.
- You have recently undergone a cosmetic procedure such as laser treatment, chemical peel, microneedling, injectables, or skin resurfacing.
- The product is intended for use on, or near, broken, irritated, infected, or sun-damaged skin.
5.4 How to Use
Novéra Gemstone-Infused Face Mists are formulated for daily topical use on healthy skin of the face and neck.
- Hold the bottle approximately 15–20 cm (6–8 inches) from clean, dry skin, with eyes closed.
- Spray a light, even mist across the face and neck.
- Avoid direct contact with the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.
- Allow the mist to absorb naturally, or gently pat into the skin.
- Follow with other skincare steps as desired.
For external use only. Do not ingest. Do not apply to broken, irritated, or infected skin. Do not use on or near the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool water and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
5.5 Ingredient Information
A complete INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) list is printed on the packaging of every Novéra product, and is also published on the corresponding product page on noveraskincare.com. Common ingredients across our face mist range include:
- Water (Aqua)
- Niacinamide
- Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid)
- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C derivative)
If you have any known ingredient allergies, please review the full ingredient list before use. If you are unsure whether an ingredient is safe for you, consult a dermatologist or allergist.
5.6 What to Do If You Experience a Reaction
If you experience irritation, redness, itching, swelling, rash, or any other adverse reaction:
- Discontinue use immediately.
- Gently wash the affected area with cool water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser.
- Apply a cool compress if needed to soothe the skin.
- If symptoms are severe (for example, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, widespread rash, or blistering), seek emergency medical attention immediately.
- If symptoms persist beyond 24–48 hours or worsen, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
- Contact us at support@noveraskincare.com with the details of your reaction. We take every report seriously and may be able to assist with a return under our Refund and Return Policy (Section 1.2).
5.7 Storage and Shelf Life
- Store Novéra products at room temperature (15–25°C / 59–77°F), away from direct sunlight and extreme heat.
- Keep the cap secured when not in use to prevent contamination.
- Do not freeze or expose to temperatures below 5°C (41°F).
- Once opened, use within the Period-After-Opening (PAO) indicated on the packaging.
- Check the expiry or best-before date on the packaging and do not use the product after this date.
5.8 Keep Out of Reach of Children
Novéra products are formulated for adult skin and should be kept out of the reach of children. If a child ingests or misuses the product, rinse the affected area or mouth with water and contact a poison control center or healthcare professional immediately.
5.9 Reporting Safety Concerns
If you believe there is a quality, safety, or labeling issue with a Novéra product, please contact us immediately at support@noveraskincare.com. We investigate every report. Depending on the nature of the concern, we may also report the issue to Health Canada (or other applicable regulatory authorities) as required by law.
5.10 Limitation
Nothing in this Product Safety and Allergy Disclosure creates a warranty or guarantee beyond those provided in our Terms and Conditions (Section 4) or required by applicable consumer protection and product safety laws. However, your mandatory statutory rights under Canadian consumer protection legislation and product liability law are not affected by this document.
